ITEM:  HISTORICAL COMMISSION - 1032 Cedar Grove Road, Wynnewood, William Penn Inn, Class 2, 2018-R-20

Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners approval to install two fences on the property:

 

1. A solid wood fence with a natural finish and trellis on top as a continuation of the existing fence along Lancaster Avenue. This fence would continue around the corner of Clover Hill Road and terminate at Cedar Grove Road.

 

2. A solid wood fence, stained white, around the yard/patio of one unit in the converted multi-unit dwelling, abutting but not directly anchored to the historic walls of the building.

 

On October 22, 2018, the Historical Commission recommended approval of the application as submitted.

PUBLIC COMMENT
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Historical Commission supports reasonable relief to the Zoning Code to support the installation of the fence as designed based on the unique conditions surrounding this important historic property, and to further the applicant’s enjoyment of the historic resource and its setting. The reversible nature of fences such as this is one of the reasons the Commission supports this application, and would always encourage a landscape solution (or a combination) in lieu of any fencing.
