ITEM:  RESOLUTION - KEYSTONE GRANT FOR LUDINGTON LIBRARY

Consider for approval a resolution authorizing the Township Manager to submit a grant application in the amount of $200,000 to the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund Grant to partially fund improvements at Ludington Library.

 

RESOLUTION

 

WHEREAS, the Township of Lower Merion has the legal authority to apply for a Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund library grant (“Keystone Grant”), and the institutional, managerial and financial capability (including funds sufficient to pay the non-state share of project costs) to ensure planning, management and completion of the project described in the application; and

 

WHEREAS, the Township has contracted with the engineering firm Pennoni to provide design specification for the non-routine maintenance to the Ludington Library, a branch of the Lower Merion Library System (“LMLS”), the Township’s public library, so designated by Township Ordinance; and

 

WHEREAS, the Township staff carefully reviewed Pennoni’s plan for the non-routine maintenance for the Ludington Library, and recommended that it be approved in concept for the purposes of applying for the Keystone Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the LMLS has reviewed Pennoni’s plan for non-routine maintenance of the Ludington Library, and recommended that it be approved in concept for the purposes of applying for the Keystone Grant,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Township directs and authorizes the Township Manager, as the official representative of the Township, to submit a Keystone Grant in the amount of $200,000, including all understandings and assurances contained therein, which are attached, and to act in connection with the application and to provide such additional information as may be required to assist the Township in carrying out the Pennoni plan for the non-routine maintenance for the Ludington Library. The Township also agrees that the property will serve undisturbed as a library for a period of at least 50 years.
