ITEM:  CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS - 7 East Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, Ardmore Historic District, 17-36

Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners approval to make various modifications to the former Merion Title & Trust bank building, which was most recently occupied by Primavera Pizza Kitchen:

 

  • Renovation of the corner clock (previously proposed to become a sign) as a working clock with elements resembling the original bank clock;
  • Construction of a canopy covering the main entrance (facing Lancaster Avenue), consisting of a frosted transparent acrylic roof supported by decorative metal columns. The canopy will not directly attach to the building facade;
  • Installation of a railing surrounding an elevated concrete platform in front of the main entrance.

 

On January 9, 2018, the HARB recommended approval of this application subject to the Secretary of the Interior's Standards 9 and 10.

The Building & Planning Committee recommended sending the application back to HARB on December 13, 2017.
