Consider for approval a resolution to accept funding in the amount of $29,987.38 from the Federal Highway Safety Program administered through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation to conduct Driving Under the Influence Checkpoints and other related programs.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Township has applied for and been awarded a $29,987.38 grant under the

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Alcohol Safety Program, whose goal it is to promote highway safety by reducing the instances of alcohol related crashes, injury and death on our highways; and

WHEREAS, this grant and the funds are to be used to fund roving patrols, sobriety checkpoints and programs to reduce the underage consumption of alcohol; and

WHEREAS, the Agreement is made and entered into by and between the

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania acting through the Department of Transportation; and

BE IT RESOLVED, by authority of the Board of Commissioners of the Township of Lower Merion, Montgomery County, and it is hereby resolved by authority of the same, that the President of the Board of Commissioners be authorized and directed to sign the agreement on its behalf.
