ITEM: HISTORICAL COMMISSION - 2017-LD-11 : 706 West Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr – Bedford Hall, Harcum College – Class 2
Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners the construction of a garden memorial wall in the front yard of a former residence, now Bedford Hall. The memorial would be oval-shaped with a stone sitting wall, 24” high, with bluestone cap. |
| | | | | | | | ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
On May 22, 2017 the Historical Commission recommended conceptual approval of the low wall hemicycle memorial with stone paving. The stone of the wall shall match the stone first floor of the historic resource, with bluestone cap, in the general vicinity of the area between the building and the sidewalk. A subcommittee of three Commission members shall review additional information to evaluate axial symmetry, distance and material of the walkway between the sidewalk to the memorial, and any relationship between the memorial, its pathway, and the sidewalk alongside the driveway. The Commission recommended a scaled site plan be provided to answer these questions. It should be noted that there was not a quorum of members present although a majority of those present voted to recommend approval of this item. |
