ITEM:  CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS - 4 WEST LANCASTER AVENUE, ARDMORE

Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners a Certificate of Appropriateness to alter two storefronts facing Cricket Avenue. The proposal retains the southern door opening but the original door is to be replaced, and eliminates the other door opening which is converted into a window. Azek paneling is proposed under the storefront windows. Upper transom windows would be repaired and/or restored at 4 West Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, Ardmore Commerical Historic District, a.k.a. 4 Cricket Avenue; formerly Marjorie Schneider Antiques. 

 

On Tuesday, July 26, 2016, HARB recommended that the Board of Commissioners grant a Certificate of Appropriateness as submitted based on the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties criteria Nos. 1, 2, 9, and 10, and subject to the provision that the sign is excluded and the applicant will return when they have a specific design and material ideas.
