ITEM:  HISTORICAL COMMISSION - 227 Ivy Lane, Haverford – Class 2 – 2017-R-4

Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners various alterations including a new front portico, new sunroom windows, kitchen expansion, new attached 2-car garage with breezeway, and new garage and man doors at the existing garage.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

On Monday, February 27, 2017 the Historical Commission recommended approval with the following clarifications:

 

1)     Alterations to the entrance driveway, removal of paving and new paving in new configurations are recommended for approval.

2)     Modifications to the east terrace including an extension and added walls and hard paving are recommended for approval, with details to be reviewed and approved by a subcommittee.

3)     Extension of the existing kitchen and the creation of an enclosed breezeway with copper roofing and Velux copper skylight is recommended for approval.

4)     Addition of a two story garage with craft room above is recommended for approval, with garage doors, man door, dormers, and brick and stucco as shown. Roofing to match existing. The Historical Commission encourages the applicant to alter the connection between the dormer faces that extend through the eave.

5)     The addition of a gable to the front entrance portico and its supporting timber framing are recommended for approval.

6)     Replacement of windows with a two-light transoms to replace four-light transoms is recommended for denial, with a zero-day delay.

7)     Replacement sunroom door as proposed is recommended for approval.

8)     Replacement of vinyl windows on the first and second floors to be tabled until additional information is submitted by the applicant for review by a subcommittee.

9)     The sun tubes proposed for the rear gable section are recommended for approval, with details and photographs of existing conditions to be submitted to be approved by the subcommittee at the time the window details will be reviewed.

10)     The dormer above the garage to match the later south-facing dormer on the same end of the house recommended for approval.
