ITEM:  HISTORICAL COMMISSION - 407 Mill Creek Road, Gladwyne, Class 2, 2016-R-35

Consider for recommendation to the Board of Commissioners a proposal to demolish the existing historic resource, retain the existing (non-historic) garage, and construct a new home on the site. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

On Monday, November 28, 2016 the Historical Commission recommended denial of demolition with a delay of 90 days, based on the fact that the Commission feels that this is a viable historic resource that could be renovated to meet a broad spectrum of uses and needs, although the Commission recognizes that the stated needs and requirements of the current owners do not meet the use of the building. In addition, should the demolition proceed, the Commission recommended adoption of the mitigation measures in the Historic Resource Impact Study, some of which have been partially or fully considered already, but the Commission would encourage the continued pursuit of: a) to reconsider use of part or all of the existing structure, b) documentation including additional detailed photos and a measured floor plan, and c) salvage of building materials or relocating the building.
